The Satvic Diet

The satvic or Yogic diet is the most pure of all diets and is recommended for all people seriously walking spiritual paths.  Remember that foods should be rotated with the seasons to maintain ones balance with nature.
FRUIT: Most fruits are fine, with smaller quantities of heavier fruits like bananas and avocado.
VEGTABLES:  Most vegetables are fine also. Take smaller quantities of the cabbage family plants, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, & mustard, as they are gas forming. Also smaller amounts of potatoes and sweet potatoes, as they are heavy.  No mushrooms and traditionally nothing grown below the ground.  Vegetables should be fresh and steamed, not fried.
GRAINS: Rice, wheat, & oats eaten whole or as bread.  Take more in winter for strength.        BEANS:  Mung, aduki and tofu are fine.  Avoid all others.
SEEDS/NUTS:   Fresh or lightly roasted almonds.
DAIRY: Raw milk, Small amounts of freshly made yogurt and soft raw milk cheese.
OILS:   Ghee, olive & sesame. Avoid all others.
SWEETENERS:   Honey, raw sugar in small quantities only.
SPICES:  Ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel, coriander, and turmeric.  Use in larger quantities as they help to balance the dampness of the high fruit and dairy diet.  Avoid garlic and raw onions.  Also avoid cayenne pepper and all other very pungent spices.
BEVERAGES:   Pure spring water, satvic herb teas such as chamomile and mint, raw milk, satvic vegetable juices
